On a breezy day, a refreshing yogurt is a simple but tasty way to satiate sweet cravings. An alternative to high-calorie ice cream, frozen Italian yogurt proves a delicious and health conscious alternative.
Already hugely popular in Southern California, Cefiore attributes its success to its signature item, Italian frozen yogurt. More tart than traditional frozen yogurt, Cefiore’s Italian frozen yogurt is non-fat, low in calories and available in five flavors. Other menu items include flavored snow ice, waffles, smoothies and a wide selection of coffee and organic tea drinks.
With a Fresno location in River Park, this fast-growing frozen yogurt destination is actively seeking franchises in select cities. Opening in just two years across seven states and three different countries, there are over 30 locations of this refreshing hit.
“Since opening our first location in downtown Los Angeles in August 2006 our business has grown significantly,” Danny Kim, Vice President of Cefiore, said. “We look forward to continued success as we expand to additional markets.”
Named after the Italian word for ‘flower,’ Cefiore has a modern and techno feel. The white circular tables and clear green and orange plastic chairs give the eatery a futuristic feel. The light fixtures are like round disco globes; flatscreen televisions and techno music finalized the modern decor.
Before ordering, I first sampled the original frozen yogurt, a tart and sweet combo with a lemon flavoring. The second sampling was Acaiberry, a berry sherbert with some interesting textures. I followed these samples up with a sweet chocolate flavored yogurt and a green tea, ironically pink in coloring. Last but not least, I tried the red and white Acerola Cherry.
My favorite was by far the Acaiberry, which I then ordered in a kid’s size. The berries were sweet rather than sour. I paid $3.95 plus tax for the kid’s combo, which came with three toppings. The topping were as varied as any local ice cream shop’s, which everything from fruits, candies, white and dark chocolate chips, and nuts.
While this combo sounds loaded with unhealthy fats, Cefiore’s desserts contain a fraction of the expected calories. Diners can satisfy their sweet tooth without the usual guilt.
Cefiore’s good prices, varied menu and non-fat options make the yogurt shop stand out among endless copycat stores. I recommend Cefiore for all ages, whether for a casual date or family outing.
Cefiore is located at the River Park shopping center at 220 E. Paseo Del Centro, next to the new Me-n-Eds. For more information, call the manager at (559) 447-1355. For more restaurant reviews, visit the Oct. 14 article, Sushi bar exudes fun atmosphere.
