It’s Friday after school and everyone is looking for something to do. All the suggestions thrown out, such as going to the movies, eating dinner and shopping, cost money. Then your friends make statements like “I’m broke” or “Why does everything fun have to cost so much money?”
While parties are common events for teens, they may often seem daunting and expensive to organize. However, with the following tips, you can plan and host a fun party without overtaxing your wallet.
Step one: Secure a venue. All activities need a place to host the party. Ask a friend or your parents if their house is available to use, so you can save money. It is best to use a house that has a lot of space to fit people, or if the party is held during the summer, a house with a large back yard with a pool.
Step two: Provide food. This is one of the most crucial decisions you will make in order to please your guests. Asking each of your friends to bring something to eat also helps to maintain a manageable budget.
The choice of food for the party usually depends on the theme or price. A good option is Little Caesar’s pizzeria, which offers a $5 pizza with about 10 slices. In addition, cookies, chips and dip, M&M’s and other candies are a good snack to have available.
Step three: Find entertainment. While most kids buy into the lie that money equates to fun, your party will prove them wrong. Having a fire pit, board games and a pool are all great ways to keep your guests entertained and a great use of the things already at the house.
Give your guests the benefit of the doubt to entertain themselves. Have a movie playing while the other activities are provided so they can choose what they want to do and who they want to hang out with. If the party is in dire need of salvation, then the host should bring out a board game and have everyone participate.
Step four: Invite people. This is the most important part of planning a party. The right people can make for a fun party, while the wrong crowd can spoil all your effort and planning. You may to invite people who are capable of having fun in a safe manner, so your party will not grow too large or become out of control.
The only money you should spend for your party is on the food, which does not amount to very much. Following these four steps keeps the planning process simple and cheap. Now with these tips in mind, save your friends from boredom and go host a party!
