In order to supplement the cost of tuition, Fresno Christian offers Scrip as a fundraising tool for families. The Scrip program distributes gift cards to many stores, restaurants and other locations that return 2-3 percent of purchases. This revenue is then used to benefit music, sports and tuition fees.
Scrip purchases can be used for Christmas gifts but also for everyday needs, whether fast food, restaurants, movie theaters or other venues.
Order forms are available in the central office in Building 5. If ordered by Dec. 15, the school can have orders ready before Christmas break or within the week.
Planning out weekly shopping trips with Scrip can be profitable, as well as beneficial for last-minute runs to the store or simply given as gifts.
FCS parent Lynette Winegarden uses Scrip for her seventh-grade twins, Colin and Elise.
“Scrip is very convenient for me and my family,” Winegarden said. “I can plan everything I need, and if it’s available I will place an order and it comes within the week. It benefits me by deferring the cost by 2 percent toward my tuition.”
Teacher Natalie Douty also uses Scrip for her family members and for presents during the holidays.
“Scrip is really good for me,” Douty said. “I use the gift cards as presents for my friends and family. It’s helpful and easier to purchase them at school rather than to go from store to store.”
Some families find that keeping a routine with both Scrip and the S.H.A.R.E.S. card is an advantage to them, as well as to the school.
The S.H.A.R.E.S. cards, sponsored by Savemart Supermarkets are also sold in the main office. They can be used at local grocery stores and return 3 percent of purchases. Two percent goes to the card holder’s tuition fees, while the other percent benefits the school.
