After a month of preparation, the FC concert choir and ensemble will attend the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) music festival in Sacramento on March 4 and 5.
The vocalists will perform before judges late in the afternoon on March 4. All of the groups will perform together on March 5.
The musicale is an annual event composed of choirs, ensembles and soloists from participating schools. Fifteen schools will be performing in one combined choir.
Under the direction of Michael Ogdon, the students are prepared to perform together and in the mass choir.
“About a month ago, we began rehearsing,” Ogdon said. “There are six songs we will sing with the other choirs and two we will perform on our own. The format of ACSI allows us to join with other groups. For small choirs, singing with up to 300 other vocalists is a lot of fun.”
Many students look forward to this trip as an opportunity to learn and spend time with classmates.
“I think it will be death to get here [FC] at 5:15 in the morning,” Olyvia Franklin, ’10, said. “I’m excited about going and singing with a lot of other schools to create one mass choir. It should be a lot of fun, but a lot of standing because we will rehearse all day. Overall it will be a good experience.”
