As the end of the year approaches, the class of 2010 prepares to graduate on May 27 and leave the campus behind. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the main sanctuary of Peoples Church.
In honor of the seniors, parents will hold a sober grad night following graduation. This event has been a tradition on campus for many years, put on by senior parents.
As in every year, sober grad night remains a surprise until the seniors arrive for the evening.
Parent Lori Grossman has helped to organize it this year, supporting the event with fundraisers to provide a free experience for the seniors.
“We have done fundraisers to be able to cover our expenses,” Grossman said. “We are very thankful to all the families and friends who made this possible.”
The parents have organized the event in order to create an unforgettable night for the seniors, Grossman said.
“We have a night filled with travel and plenty of fun activities,” Grossman said, “as well as a few guest appearances and great food.”
Transportation for the night cannot be revealed but will be comfortable and accommodating for all the students, Grossman said. In addition, a raffle drawing will be held to determine the winner of an Apple iPad.
Senior Alyssa Boss has high expectations for what the evening will bring, she said.
“I am looking forward to hanging out with my friends and doing my last school activity with all of them together,” Boss said. “Graduation and sober grad are something I will never forget attending.”
Despite the fact that many of the night’s activities are kept secret, senior Kyle Maddox looks forward to the event with his peers.
“I really don’t care what we will be doing,” Maddox said. “I’m just happy to be graduating and hanging out with my friends.”
