In preparation for the upcoming West Sequoia League Talent Show, student leadership will hold auditions over Jan. 25-27, during lunch, in Ground Zero.
After a presentation by all of the participants, FC will select three acts to take part in the talent show, where seven schools in the league will compete.
Student leadership adviser Robert Foshee manages the talent show and appreciates how it gives students an opportunity to express their abilities, he said.
“They get a chance to get in front of an audience,” Foshee said. “Even the audition process is fun. Even if you don’t make it through, your peers get to see you out of your normal routine.”
Instead of performing on their own, senior Rachel Wilhelm, junior Julianne King and sophomore Katherine Bennett plan to combine their talents. The three will perform A Fine Frenzy’s “Better Near to You.” Despite anxiety, the group will take measures to put on a successful show.
“I am a little nervous because I am playing the piano and singing, which is a coordination skill that I don’t have a full grasp on yet,” Bennett said. “We will be meeting together this weekend and a few more times to prepare, as well as practicing on our own. I hope for the best and figure that no matter how we do, it will be a growing experience for all of us.”
Students who do not plan to participate in the talent show, such as Robbie Hill, ’14, can still watch the auditions.
“I might be doing something with Chandler [Vargas, ’12] and Bridget [Teixeira, ’11], but as of right now I’m mostly looking forward to watching,” Hill said. “I know it will be fun because I have seen some of the videos, and there are funny and really talented people. It’s a good opportunity to let the students expresss themselves.”

I’m glad Miss Messer is keeping her scarf out of the way of the mixer here!
