“Riddikulus with Elise & Sydney” is a column about the Harry Potter series. In this special installment, the writers discuss their plans for the release of the seventh movie.
On the eve of the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ? Part 1, we are literally squirming with excitement. Spontaneous bursts of enthusiasm have been afflicting us for the past week, and they are gradually growing more frequent.
On Nov. 18, we are going to the midnight release of the seventh movie. We will arrive at the theater around 2 p.m. to wait … until midnight.
While this may sound like a silly thing to do, it is actually quite fun. There will literally be thousands of people there — all just as excited as ourselves. The long wait seems daunting at first, but it actually flies by pretty quickly. In fact, the five hours spent at school will probably seem longer.
The time spent preparing and waiting for the movie is actually as fun and entertaining as seeing the movie itself. As soon as tickets went on sale, we bought some for ourselves and all of our friends to guarantee that we would all be in the same theater.
In preparation, we will be decorating fan T-shirts to proclaim our “nerdiness” to the world.
On the day of the showing (tomorrow!), the people in our group will be switching off on waiting in line. Contrary to what most people believe, this part of the midnight-showing experience is actually super fun and entertaining. Not only do we get to spend time with our friends and act like crazed fans, but we also get to observe all of the other ecstatic fans around us.
Through time with our friends, cheering like the crazed fans we are and watching the movie itself, we are definitely looking forward to having an awesome experience.
