Imagine this: You are home alone and hungry, but there is no one to feed you.
While some recipes may seem difficult and eating out can get expensive, the meal listed here is hearty, delicious and simple to make.
This dinner option — breakfast for dinner — includes the smokey aroma and crunchy texture of bacon, hot and moist pancakes and the refreshing sweet and tart flavors of a delicious fruit and yogurt parfait.
Ingredients (for two servings)
2-4 eggs
1 Shake-and-Pour Bisquick bottle
1 package of applewood bacon (9 pieces)
Maple syrup
Granola
Vanilla yogurt
9 strawberries
Procedure
Step 1: Lightly grease a skillet with butter or cooking spray. Set stove to medium-high heat.
Step 2: Add water to the Bisquick bottle according to the directions on the back, then shake. Pour about four-inch-wide dollops of pancake batter to the pan and cook until the spatula easily slides under the pancake, then flip.
Step 3: After you have finished thoroughly cooking the pancakes, wash the skillet and set the stove on medium-high.
Place three strips of bacon to a pan or skillet (non-stick best) and cook until crispy, for about 12-15 minutes. Use medium heat as bacon grease will spit at you if too hot. Turn bacon over a few times to cook completely. Once cooked, lay the bacon onto a paper towel to absorb the excess grease. Tip: if bacon is chewy, it is not done–keep cooking. If microwaving bacon, cook time is about 3 minutes on high in a microwave safe container.
Step 4: When the bacon is done, wash the skillet once again to cook the two eggs in whatever style you prefer [fried or scrambled in pan with or without mixing first with milk, or poached (in water)]. Remember to season eggs with salt and pepper.
Step 5: Select a small bowl and scoop all the contents of the vanilla yogurt package into it. Then slice 9 strawberries and lay them on top of the yogurt. Lastly, add granola (optional).
This meal is quick and easy — it only takes about 30 minutes to prepare. It is a sweet alternative to pizza or other greasy meals. This is plenty of food for two and is sure to satisfy hungry teens.
