This holiday season, shopping at Fashion Fair Mall provides more than just gifts — it is a way to support FC through School Cents.
For this program, mall receipts dated from Sept. 15, 2010, to May 15, 2011, may be brought to Guest Services, next to the center court, to generate points for FC. The credit will be logged toward FC, and the receipt will be returned.
At the end of the period, participating schools will receive prizes ranging from $350-2500, with the amount depending on the number of points earned. As of the date of this article, the school has raised 1,025,000 School Cents points. However, if shoppers bring their receipts back to Fashion Fair in January to record their totals, they will receive double points.
According to campus coordinator Michelle Devereaux, the fundraiser is a convenient way to benefit the school.
“This is an easy way to help the school, if you already shop at Fashion Fair; it just makes sense,” Devereaux said. “Families can help give back to FCS by not wasting their shopping dollars. There is no extra cost — just the receipts from the money they would have spent anyway.”
In previous years, FC has earned the top prize in School Cents, Devereaux said.
“Points are received for each dollar spent at Fashion Fair, including restaurants,” Devereaux said. “At the end of the year, points are tallied and FCS receives cash back. For the last several years, FC has won first place, collecting $2500 each year.”
The program is not limited to FC families, however. For those who would like to contribute but may not shop at Fashion Fair, Devereaux said there are others ways to get involved.
“Even if you do not shop at the mall, you can help by purchasing gift cards, registering your e-mail or even spreading the word to family and friends,” Devereaux said.
The money raised through School Cents and other fundraisers helps to cover numerous expenses, according to Superintendent Debbie Siebert.
“People pay tuition fees, and there are expenses for the school; but the money given does not always cover our expenses,” Siebert said. “The way we compromise is by doing as many fundraisers as possible, and School Cents gives us this chance. Since we have been able to win first place in the program and get the maximum amount of $2,500 last year, we were able to buy a few new computers.”
