For many, togetherness and support at FC is a very important value not only for the “lifers,” but also for the new families that choose to join.
That is why a coalition of school and parent support groups, the New Family Partnership (NFP), are coming together to throw Fellowship Night, the second annual event that helps to provide connections between new and established families, Sept. 13.
The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. at John’s Incredible Pizza in the Retreat Room. Only host and new families are invited to attend the event, both of whom received an invitation, and will be given both a food and game card with no cost to them.
Hannah Serimian, Co-President of Parents Serving Together (PST) — one of the groups that makes up NFP –, is helping to put on the event. Each “host family” is given two new families from the school to sponsor and help throughout the year.
“A host family is a good opportunity to connect the school because most of the time new students can feel left out and families don’t know about school events,” Serimian said. “Fresno Christian wants to include everyone in the events we hold. Also, it is important to make new students feel supported and comfortable.”
Altogether, the program is meant to bring together the campus through the three-pronged goal of strengthening relationships, helping new families assimilate more quickly and unifying the FC school community
“I am very excited for the year to come,” Serimian said. “God will do great things with the student body and families.”
