To bridge the gap between income from tuition and operating expenses, Fresno Christian Schools will host the 28th annual auction on March 12. The event will run from 5:30-9 p.m. in the FCS Gym.
According to Superintendent Debbie Siebert, the event is held for stakeholders and members of the FC community to contribute to the school.
“Board members to kindergarten students have a role to play,” Siebert said. “The auction brings a sense of community and is also a wonderful way to introduce others to the FCS family by inviting them as guests. Their contributions make the programs we offer at Fresno Christian possible.”
The event consists of a steak dinner and both a live and a silent auction. The dinner will be served at 6:30, and the live auction will begin at 7:30. The silent auction, which includes items such as gift cards, services and desserts, will be held throughout the night.
Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer will act as emcee for the evening and will direct the live auction. The items donated for the live auction include a week-long stay at a condo and an eagle statue. (For a complete list of auction items, visit the Auction 2011 page on the school’s website.)
Siebert encourages everyone to purchase tickets for the auction. To reserve a table or to purchase individual tickets, call the Central Office at 559.299.1695. Prices range from $50 for an individual ticket to $10,000 for a full program display and 24 seats.
“The night itself is a lot of fun, but I really enjoy working with everyone along the way,” Siebert said. “It is such a wonderful experience being part of such a generous group of people who give of themselves so freely. Without the team of tireless volunteers, the auction would not take place.”
Last year, the auction raised $115,000 and consisted of over 370 items, all more than in recent years. In the past, the turnout for the auction has reached the maximum capacity of 375 persons.
Although students ordinarily do not attend the auction, Siebert recognizes their role in its planning and encourages them to contribute to the event.
“High school students can help by bringing in silent auction items,” Siebert said. “They can also sell tickets, get live auction items and volunteer to help set up for the evening and the night of the event.”
