After half a day at school, April 13, adviser Greg Stobbe and 13 editors and members of The Feather staff traveled to Anaheim, CA, in anticipation of the Journalism Education Association/National Scholastic Press Association Spring National High School Journalism Convention, April 14-17.
The group left at 1:30 p.m. in three cars, arriving around 7 p.m. After situating themselves in their hotel rooms at the DoubleTree Guest Suites, the delegates walked to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. for dinner.
There, they enjoyed seafood and Forrest Gump trivia provided by their energetic waiters, Bryan and Jennay.
Juniors Danielle St. Marie and Nick Avery ordered speckled lemonades, which came in color-flashing cups. The cups’ entertainment value outweighed their utility, and the dishes were described by St. Marie and Avery as “a rave in a cup.”
Once dinner was over, the delegates retired to their hotel rooms to sleep before an early morning at Disneyland Resort.
The slideshow below contains 36 photos documenting the group’s first day of the Anaheim trip. Check back the next day for a report and a slideshow on the group’s adventure in Disneyland.
