The Adoration Ensemble and Celebration Choir will perform at Fresno City College (FCC) for the first festival of the year, Oct. 26.
The FC choirs will compete against two other schools around noon. Each choirs’ performance will take about 20 minutes. The other high schools competing are Riverdale High School, and Clovis High School. In addition, FCC’s choir and ensemble are scheduled to participate.
This year’s Fall Festival is located in the FCC Old Administration Building Auditorium. All groups will be judged by director Daniel Earl.
Earl’s teaching career spans most of five decades. He retired from teaching at Santa Rosa High School in 2005 after teaching for 28 years. He presently directs the Santa Rosa Symphonic Chorus.
The following day, the entire FC choral department, elementary through high school, will be performing at the Riverpark Bible Church at 7:30 p.m.
The event, called Hopelessly Hopeful, is a benefit concert to assist the Fresno Rescue Mission. The entrance is free, although it is suggested that attendees bring one of the following; bath towel, sweatshirt, men’s gloves, beanie cap, sugar, flour, salt, cooking oil, coffee, lemonade, punch and canned vegetables.
High school music department director Michael Ogdon feels that this concert is a way for the school’s campus to reach out to its community.
“The intention is that our school be involved with the community, and continue to be involved with community service,” Ogdon said. “This is a way for us to do that, even in a concert setting. We did some community service last year in Los Angeles, but it wasn’t our own community, so we are continuing that in Fresno by helping out the Fresno Rescue Mission.”
Riverpark Bible Church is located at the corner of Millbrook and Alluvial.
