As students embark upon their last year of high school, many look forward to the annual senior retreat, which, this year, will be held at Calvin Crest, Aug. 27-28.
Camp fires and night walks are some of the defining qualities of the trip, which are often considered to be events that will expand relationships between peers and strengthening students’ faiths. Bible teacher and chaperone Robert Foshee looks forward to the opportunities for students to gain better understanding of each other.
“The main goals of senior retreat are to give seniors opportunities to get closer to classmates, to get closer to God and to have fun,” Foshee said.
Although students are not always sure what to anticipate, many hold high expectations for their first event as a class. Senior Victoria Hindes looks forward to the community aspect, she says.
“I’m excited for senior retreat,” Hindes said. “I hope that I’m not disappointed, because I’ve looked forward to it, but I’m sure it will be great.”
While 51 students will attend, some will not be able to due to prior commitments.
Students depart from FC at 9 a.m., Aug. 27, and will arrive back at FC around 2 p.m. the next day.
