The 35th episode of “FC Underground,” covers the week of Nov. 28-Dec. 2, 2011. “FC Underground” is a weekly segment hosted by Kristen Rosenthal, ’13, and produced by Austin Rurik, ’12.
After Thanksgiving break, Rosenthal promotes club activities for the week, including Sister2Sister, CSF, Spanish club. Seniors need to prepare for Jostens visit for graduation stuff and for baby ads in the yearbook. Winter sports are gearing up and the golf team is organizing to begin. The Art Institute will also visit campus this week.
Finally students, parents and the FC community are encouraged to save the date for the annual Christmas concert: Round the Table Carol Sing, Dec. 14 and 15.
For these and other events, read The Feather announcements at the Daily News on the right menu bar.
The segments consist of news, interviews, profiles and comments on campus life. Each episode is between two and three minutes in length.
“FC Underground” first ran in the fall of 1997 and continued until the spring of 2001. In the fall of 2009, editor-in-chief Suzanna Quiring, ’10, resumed the series, which was then produced by Paige Powell, ’10. After Quiring and Powell graduated, Stobbe and Casuga took up the job until this year.

I am very proud to say that my freshman English class got spared the horrors of the yellow chair! We narrrowly escaped thanks to Ramen’s use of a vocab word that week. Stobbe decided to put the chair away and we never had to see it again!

Ugg, it’s finally done! After finishing this assignment most of us realized it wasn’t as hard as we thought. But I still would not want to do it again. What teacher would think of writing about a CHAIR for goodness sake!

That seemed so hard at the time, but it really did help.:)

I definitely remember writing the yellow chair paper my freshman year. At first it was difficult to eliminate helping verbs and to not say “yellow,” or “chair” in the assignment, but by the time I was finished, I felt proud of my work.
Freshmen, don’t be scared of anything Mr. Stobbe assigns you because they will eventually help you become a better writer.

Even thought it was a complicated assignment, I had soo much fun watching Mr. Stobbe and my classmates freak out in class about it:D

I finally finished my paper on it!! Trust me … not easy to write a paper on a yellow chair 😉

I loved this assignment actually, really helped me focus on detail. The helping verbs are what got me
Matthew Jones • Jan 7, 2012 at 12:02 am
The thing though is that he said that they only did it when they didn’t do one of the writing assignments.

This chair is haunting all the freshmen. It needs to be burned. Or something along those lines……
Adam Loughney • Jan 7, 2012 at 12:02 am
Wow, Mr. Stobbe must really want to get revenge on you because our class did not have to do this assignment last year. Good luck freshmen. 🙂
Robert Foshee • Jan 7, 2012 at 12:02 am
I love the varied expressions on the students faces!
Chris Chon • Jan 7, 2012 at 12:02 am
Haha our class didn’t have to do that assignment, but it definitely increases your writing skills. Good luck!
Aaron DeWolf • Jan 7, 2012 at 12:02 am
I just want to get it over with, but I know next year we’ll be bugging the freshman about it again!
Logan Rood • Jan 7, 2012 at 12:02 am
That yellow chair essay killed me. It was so hard, but it also pushed my writing skills to new levels. Good luck freshmen!

The yellow chair is coming for me….
Cue the horror music.
