In honor of Benjamin Franklin, the inventor of bifocals, FC will host a day to wear and collect glasses on Ben Franklin Day, Jan. 20.
Observing Franklin’s day, the student leadership class decided to host a drive to collect old glasses frames, which will be donated to missionary organizations who provide glasses for people in need.
To inspire more involvement and lighten the atmosphere, students are encouraged to wear glasses that day, according to leadership adviser Robert Foshee.
“We thought it would be a great way to have a dress up day for students and also collect frames to give these organizations,” Foshee said. “Glasses are really fun to wear because they can change your look for the day and are fun to wear.”
Anyone who can donate glasses may leave them in boxes located in Room 608 and in front of the office.
“Students can donate old frames they have at home or buy some used ones at a thrift store,” Foshee said. “It should be a fun fun day for everyone to be involved in an activity.”
