After Journalism Adviser Greg Stobbe dragged 23 students across New York City, NY, March 12, he still expected his group to be ready by 7:45 a.m. the following day. Despite the traveling done the day before, students were reminded today that they had just really begun their full tour of one of the largest cities in the world.
Traveling to Times Square, which was first on the checklist of activities for the day, was a first-time opportunity for some members of the party. Students then walked SAKS Fifth Avenue and visited one of the city’s newest and most popular cafes: Pie Face. There, individuals had a taste of the many varieties of pastries served.
Afterwards, the group visited Grand Central Terminal and had the opportunity to shop around the station’s different stores. The students then toured Radio City Music City Hall, where they saw one of the most unique stage setups in the world. They also had the chance to meet a member of the Rockettes, who went over the requirements and activities of her job. After the tour, students went outside and hung around Rockefeller Center.
For lunch, the group travelled to Little Italy. After which, the students went shopping in SoHo, then retreated to their hotels to get ready for the Broadway show, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.
Following the performance, some of the students were lucky enough to get actual autographs from leading actor, Nick Jonas. The tourists ended the day with dessert at the Stage Deli.
Students retired to their rooms where they will rest for the following day’s events, when they will attend lectures at the 88th annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) Scholastic Convention at Columbia University.
