After the conclusion of the winter sports season, the athletic department is putting on a banquet for those who participated in sports. The event will be held in Ground Zero, beginning at five p.m., April 22.
Teams from boys’ and girls’ soccer and basketball will attend along with their coaches. Athletes and parents join to celebrate the seasons’ accomplishments. The event will start with a dinner followed after by awards given to athletes.
The event serves to recognize players with outstanding behavior and ability. Coaches will nominate students who will then be chosen by coaches from other schools in the league to receive the sportsmanship awards for each team.
Michael Fuller, athletic department supervisor, is helping coordinate this event. Preparation includes a catered dinner and organizing the awards.
“The Athletic Department wishes to honor the efforts and accomplishments of the athletes and coaches,” said Fuller. “I think the banquet will have a good turnout, approximately 220 people will attend.”
Varsity basketball player, Hannah Avila, ?14, is looking forward to attending the banquet to reunite with her teammates.
“I?m anticipating to get together with my team and relive the funny, bad and crazy moments we had throughout the season,” said Avila. “I think the banquet will be great and people will enjoy their time.”
Assistance is needed to set up tables and serve food to the attendants. If you are interested in cooperating with set up, talk to the athletic department.
