After winning 70 major awards and having the highest grossing broadway production in history, The Lion King play has never failed to please the audience. The junior and senior classes will be given the chance to attend this award winning Broadway play in The Shorenstein Hays Nederlander (SHN) Orpheum Theater, Dec. 7.
The deposit check for $20 will be due on Mon., Aug. 20, and will not be cashed in until Oct. 1 for those who change their minds.
English teacher Molly Sargent, who is organizing this trip, will also be attending the play and is awaiting the exciting and visual show.
“I chose this play because it is a good intro for students who have never been to the theater before,” said Sargent. “I want to expose our students to this, so they can have the same joy I had when I discovered broadway.”
Due to growing up with an artistic background, Elora Hargis, ’14, plans on going to the performance, expecting a great turn-out.
“I want to go to The Lion King play because I’ve seen five or six other Broadway performances throughout my childhood,” said Hargis. “My family has been brought up in the culture of Broadway, so I’m really excited to see this awesome show.”
A selected group of 50 classmates will be chosen to drive down to San Francisco at two p.m. to watch one of the most successful shows on Broadway. The charter bus ticket will cost around $50 depending on the number of seats that are filled.
