During FC Advisory period, Sept. 18, student leadership announced annual homecoming theme for the Oct. 31 home game: “Hollywood Homecoming”. Student leadership is giving students six weeks to build float and put the finishing touches on the event.
The homecoming game will be held on the FC north field, with activities beginning at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 31. At halftime the results will be given for princess, queen and king nominees, along with judging the floats.
Students will be nominating homecoming princesses, queens and kings, along with choosing their float themes. Grades 9 through 11 will each nominate three princesses and seniors will nominate five girls and five boys for king and queen. This year seniors have chosen Western, juniors have chosen Roaring 20’s, sophomores have selected Mobsters and the freshmen have decided upon Sci-Fi.
Student Leadership advisor Vickey Belmont, encourages students to get involved with this year and bond with classmates.
“I’m looking forward to the floats, seeing the girls dressed up and not doing as much work as last year because leadership is taking on more responsibility,” Belmont said. “I encourage students to get involved by building and participating on the floats, dressing up on the dress up days and doing things for their class. It’s a great way to bond with your classmates.”
Belmont shares her expectations for this years homecoming and hopes that students will be more involved that past years.
“This year we chose Hollywood Genres for our theme, because looking at past years we saw they did movies, so we decided to do genres, because there are so many options for it,” Belmont said. “I have high expectations for this year because we have always done so great in the past, and I hope that more students get involved.”
Claire Kollenkark, ’16, expresses her excitement for her classes homecoming theme.
“I’m very excited for this years homecoming because our float theme is pretty amazing, we chose the Roaring 20s,” Kollenkark said. “This is my first year in leadership and I’m looking forward to planning homecoming and hope that this year is more organized than previous years.”
