The FC varsity cross country team traveled to Kingsburg High School to run in the Kingsburg Invitational, Sept. 8.
The meet consisted of four different race categories: freshmen, sophomore, junior and the sweepstakes race. The course was a two mile, winding route traveling around and through the school.
Daniel Moore, ’14, and Tyler Laird, ’14, both participated in the junior boys race. Out of 103 runners, Moore placed 46th with a time of 12:22, and Laird finished 32nd at a time of 11:56. Ryan King, ’15, was unable to attend.
Moore felt like the meet went well, especially for the start of the year.
“I felt like we did pretty well,” Moore said. “We were in the upper half of the field, which is nice. Personally, I think my time was pretty good, considering it was the beginning of the season.”
Cross Country Coach Ross Laird was pleased with the progress the team made. The runners met his expectations.
“I was very pleased with the meet,” Ross said. “Everyone made progress, especially Daniel Moore, who improved greatly. Even though it was a short, fast race, everybody met expectations.”
The team will next compete at Avocado Lake in Sanger, Sept. 14.
