The Eagles traveled to Woodward Park to compete in the Clovis West Golden Eagle Invitational, Sept. 21.
The meet consisted of three race divisions: freshman-sophomore, JV and varsity. All races were 5K (3.1 miles) in length.
Juniors Daniel Moore and Tyler Laird both ran the boys varsity race. Out of 141 runners, Laird placed 79th with a time of 20:28 and Moore came in 107th with a time of 22:07. Ryan King did not attend.
Moore felt like the meet went well but still thinks there is room for improvement.
“I think it [the meet] went well,” Moore said. “Everyone improved their times. It wasn’t as hot as last time, but I still felt pretty tired at the end, so I think I still need more training.”
Coach Ross Laird felt like the team did well but need to be more competitive in the races.
“The team improved on all their times from the previous race at Woodward Park,” Laird said. “That was pleasing, but there is lots of room for improvement in everyone. The team needs to have a more competitive mindset.”
The next met will be at Eastman Lake, Madera, Sept. 29.
