The Eagles cross country team traveled to Lake Kaweah to attend the Woodlake Invitational, hosted by Woodlake High School, Oct. 6.
Junior runners Tyler Laird and Daniel Moore competed in the varsity boys race, running a 5k (3.1 mile) loop course. 90 runners competed in the race. Laird finished 42nd with a time of 18:51. Moore crossed the line in 72nd at 20:31. Sophomore Ryan King did not attend.
Laird discussed the impact of the Lake Kaweah course on the race.
“There weren’t as many hills as Woodward Park, so it was a little bit faster,” Laird said. “The course was not that well marked. I hope we continue to improve in future meets.”
According to Coach Ross Laird, the team made great advancements, but still has room to improve.
“Tyler Laird and Daniel Moore both ran really well,” Ross said. “They are improving week to week, especially for having the legs run off them in practice all week. I expect continued improvement from both of them.”
