After losing against Fowler Redcats, Eagles got back on the court and played against Minarets Mustangs on Oct. 11.
In the first game, the Mustangs mainly used their experienced juniors and seniors and defeated the Eagles with strong serves. The second game was similar to the first as the Mustangs defeated the Eagles by using complex plays and aggressive hits. Despite losing the first two games, FC refused to give up and played as a team until the end but still lost, 3-0.
According to freshman Olivia Quebe, it is crucial for the teammates to encourage each other. It is also important to review plays and go over them before the game.
“Even though we lost, I still have faith in our team,” Quebe said. “Just because we lost this game does not mean that we are going to lose the next one. I think we just need to work hard and keep on encouraging each other. Also, it would be helpful to go over the plays before the game so that we will know exactly what to do on the court.”
Sophomore Gaby Siquieros says that she appreciates the seniors’ guidance and leadership both on and off the court.
“Although we lost, we played together as one,” Siquieros said. “I really like how the seniors helped us so much. They are always leading the team with positive attitudes and if we just play our best and take their advice, I am sure that we will win more games in the future.”
The Eagles will next play against Riverdale High School, Oct. 16.
