LETTER: Cookies to soldiers

It?s easy to see that sending treats and letters brings optimism to discouraged American soldiers deployed in war zones.

In the Dec. 11 article, “Home economics bakes cookies for soldiers'” posted on 12/11/12 by Justin Houts, shows that we have been faithful in supporting others by baking cookies and sending them to the troops fighting for the United States.

Thanks to their good deeds many soldiers remain optimistic.
Although making small cookies may seem very insignificant, the can make a huge difference for depressed soldiers who will not be present in their homes for Christmas. They need to be reminded that people back here are supporting them.

At this very moment troops in Afghanistan and other warzones fight to ensure safety and freedom putting their lives at risk. Unfortunately, witnessing the pain that their fellow soldier experience can be devastating.

Therefore, it is people?s duty back here at home to bolster soldiers with concern and love. How can they be motivated to protect the ones at home if no one cares for them?

Despite having a lack of baking skills, I will try to support the troops by writing letters of encouragement to them and try to inspire others to do the same.
