After high school, students must decide which career filed they wish to enter. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) Career Exploration Program, is a test which helps students by offering career options according to the results of the test. This test will be administered on campus to those who sign up, Jan. 23.
Students interested must sign up in the high school office. This test can be taken by all high school students, excluding the freshman class.
Academic Adviser Michelle Warkentin will be hosting the ASVAB test in the >Multi-Purpose RoomMolly Sargent to help students prepare for college.
The ASVAB assessment offers teenagers career options suited to their personalities through eight categories of self-evaluation questions about knowledge, interests, skills and values.
Warkentin believes that the ASVAB test is a great source for students to use in order to find a career that best fits them.
“I believe that the ASVAB test is a helpful resource because it utilizes the Holland Interest Code which is a well respected inventory that has been used in career selection since 1959,” Warkenin said. “However, it is important not to place too much weight on the ASVAB because there are many factors that cannot be analyzed through one test.”
