Every day something new happens in the world of sports. A game is played, a practice is run, a transaction is completed, etc. Whether pro, college, or high school sports, there is always something going on.
Sophomore Christopher Grossman and rookie teacher Eric Witters have joined forces to bring the patrons of The Feather Online a new podcast about all things sports dubbed “Goin Pro”. The duo analyzes the ongoings of things in the sports world and then regurgitates them with their own opinions in an up-beat, conversational style.
In their first podcast of the semester, Grossman and Witters discuss the BCS National Championship, the MLB Hall of Fame Ballot, the end of the NHL Lockout and the ongoings of the NFL Playoffs.
The two start off with talk of the BCS National Championship between The University of Alabama and The University of Notre Dame. The Crimson Tide of Alabama easily beat Notre Dame, feeding the question of the BCS system’s legitimacy.
Grossman and Witters then discuss the passing of the latest Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot. No players were inducted this year, a rarity in a league of stars. Human growth hormones and cheating surround the players on the ballot, providing a topic for the duo to merge into.
The NHL Lockout has finally ended, so the two talk about how this might affect professional hockey in the US. The shortened season will be conducted at a much faster pace, opening doors for young players to make a move along their respective team’s depth chart.
The duo ends by talking about the NFL Playoffs and their predictions as to who will be crowned Super Bowl Champions. Close games, upsets, debatable calls, and upcoming match-ups all provide topic of discussion.
