The Random Acts of Kindness week (RAK) offers ideas about what people can do each day of the week, Feb. 11-17. RAK believes that people should practice kindness every day, but encourages going above and beyond this week.
The school is encouraging students to get involved this week, and for students to become aware of the opportunities for kindness. Though this week emphasizes kindness, students can be kind any day of the year.
Freshman Bailey Brogan thinks that RAK is a good way to reach out to others.
“I think it’s a good way to reach out to others.” Brogan said. “It’s nice to go above and beyond our usual behaviors to be nice. I’m going to talk to people I don’t normally talk to ,open doors for people, or anything I can think of to be nice.”
“It [RAK week] sounds nice, but I’m not sure what I’ll do,” Thao said. “Maybe I’ll open a door for someone or help my mom out with some chores.”
Sophomore Madison Siebe thinks that it will be cool to participate throughout the week.
“I think it’s really cool for the school to participate in this,” Siebe said. “I’m going to be nicer to people I don’t really know, and say ‘hi’ whenever I see them.”
Junior Adam Loughney thinks that RAK week is a great way to show Christian spirit.
“I think that RAK is a great way to show Christian spirit,” Loughney said. “Going above and beyond to be nicer throughout this week is a good way to share the love of Christ.”
Senior Reanna Witt likes the idea of RAK and believes that being nice can have positive effects.
“I think It’s a good idea,” Witt said. “Some people are having a bad day, and it would make anyone feel better to be nice.”
The Feather would like readers to share ideas either on how they plan on getting involved in RAK or how others have shown them kindness this week or in the weeks to come.
