In order to celebrate Scholastic Journalism Week, Feb. 17-22, The Feather staff recreated their own version of the viral online video, the ‘Harlem Shake,’ Feb. 19.
The journalism students gathered to film before third period, bringing props that included cowboy hats, balloons, morph suits, wigs and extra t-shirts.
According to junior Editor-in-Chief Tynin Fries, she hopes that the week encourages the newspaper’s readers to be more involved with journalism and its efforts in the community.
“For this week, I hope that we can make our community aware of our staff and the work we do,” Fries said. “The know The Feather is here, but rarely does our own community read our paper. I just hope that we can raise awareness or recognition for all the hours of effort we put into this site.”
Along with Fries, journalism adviser Greg Stobbe appreciates the staff’s effort to promote The Feather and is proud of all their hard work.
“From all the videos I’ve seen, ours fit like a glove compared to the scholastic journalism classes,” Stobbe said. “They are excited to promote their own work and what they’re doing. I’m proud that they wanted to celebrate Scholastic Journalism Week in this week.”
