Eagles fall to non-league opponent in close match, 225-225

FC played against Kingsburg on the home course at Riverside golf course.
Despite having a low score on the course as a team, FC tied to Kingsburg just as the team did last year against the opponents. However, the sixth man rule once again helped the opponent team.

Normally, when there is a tie, the sixth man’s score from each teams are compared to decide wins or losses. As a result, Eagles were defeated, 225 (51)-225 (55).

Despite repeated rare outcome of the match coach Jeff Hopper remained positive.

“This was the second year in a row that we tied Kingsburg at home. When that happens, you go to the sixth man, and they beat us 51-55,” Hopper said. “The weight isn?t all on the sixth guy, though, as everyone could have found a place to reclaim one bad shot, and then we would have avoided the tie altogether and secured the win.”

Sophomore Trevor Beal, ’15 first time playing for the sixth man, looks forward to improve and win more upcoming matches.

“It is disappointing that we lost to a tie but I hope that next time we beat them,” Beal said. “I really wish to get rid of errors to lower my score and score better.”

The Eagles will next play at Sierra Meadows against Bullard and Yosemite, April 4.
