As the 2012-’13 school year has now concluded, The Feather staff will also take a two-month break from publishing any new material. No new articles, videos or photos will be posted until school resumes, Aug. 12.
This past year, The Feather staff has had its most successful year to date, winning titles and awards on a national level. While trying to provide news, features, sports, columns, editorials and reviews, the staff also aimed to reach their readership through social media.
Over the past two semesters, the staff has published 880 articles, along with numerous videos, slideshows and photos. On top of that, this year The Feather has pushed social media with Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
On a national level, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA) honored The Feather with three All-Columbian Honors, a Gold Medal and a Gold Crown Award. The National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) also awarded the staff with an All-American rating, a Pacemaker award and Best of Show.
Over summer vacation, the returning staff members prepare to welcome new additions over the next school year. The editors will also learn new skills, like info graphics, to begin implementing at the beginning of the school year.
The Feather will resume again on the first day of school, Aug. 12.
