Eight Feather blogs offer readers a different perspective than staff writers. These narratives discuss campus sports, cooking, how to stay healthy, how to live life and more. The blogs give readers an inside scoop on the life and times of Fresno Christian. The eight blogs are as follows:
Behind The Desk
by Matthew Weimer
Behind the Desk is written by veteran fourth grade teacher, Matthew Weimer, replacing first year teacher Eric Witters who wrote the blog last year. The purpose of his blog is to show the elementary teachers point of view on the different events that occur throughout the year.
Eaglet’s Press
by Junior high leadership
The Eaglet’s Press is written by four junior high leadership students: seventh grader Alex Rurik and eighth graders Roman Endicott, Juliana Lozano and Chloe Hunter. They are going to reveal information that help other junior high students know more about upcoming events. Hunter plans on blogging once every two weeks.
“I am writing this blog because I want to give junior highers a place to look for junior high information and what is going on at the end of our hallway,” Hunter said. “I expect readers to receive good, relevant information about junior high activities, likes and dislikes.
HE>i
by Jenna Weimer
Jenna Weimer, ’14, writes the HE>i blog, encouraging readers to know that Jesus Christ is above all. She hopes to get her readers to know God in a more personal way, and really apply his lessons to their lives.
“I chose the name ‘He>i’ for this blog because that mathematical expression pretty well represents a main goal in not only this blog but also in my life,” Weimer said. “I?m really hoping that these posts will not just be me rambling on about anything, but that they?ll truly be the messages that God wants people hear. Same with school this year. I love people and want to make sure that they know that they?re important and loved. Even more than that, though, I want to make sure that, by the love God helps me to show people, they would be able to catch a glimpse of his heart and love for them, far greater than anything I could ever give.”
Live Chats with Deb
by Deb Fries
Deb Fries, mother of Tynin and Callista Fries, brings her own perspective as a mom of teenage kids to The Feather through her blog. Her goal is to offer her experiences as a mother and the new lessons she learns in life to give students and parents advice.
“My blog is about being a parent specifically to teens,” Fries said. “Trying to understand teens perspectives on life. Sharing with others about how fantastic teens are. I do it because I like to write and I was hoping it would be more interactive with others sharing as well.”
So Healthy
by Sarah Lim
Continuing her blog as a senior, Sarah Lim hopes to encourage and inspire students to live a more healthy life. She will be publishing her blog every Tuesday on healthy living, healthy eating and ways she can express inner beauty. Lim is also in charge of publishing all the blogs.
“I think it’s going to go smoothly because the blogs are not that difficult to handle,” Lim said “It’s something that I have a passion for because I did it last year. It’s a great opportunity to be involved in The Feather. It also gives me an opportunity to have a leadership role in the paper. I really feel that the Lord has blessed it and I know they will go well. I’m really excited for it.”
Lim is very hopeful about the blog variety The Feather has this year. She believes the numerous topics that are discussed will connect with more students that hold numerous interests.
“We have a good variety of blogs this year,” Lim said. “Tradition wise we have a devotion and teacher’s perspective. A lot of people who blogged last year came back this year so that’s really good. We have sports, health, teachers perspective, junior high and high school student perspective. It gives numerous students with different interests the chance to be engaged. Blogs are more loose and relaxed than articles so it’s fun for people to get in to.”
Positive, Encouraging Hannah
by Hannah Avila
Senior Hannah Avila is undertaking a blog this year where she will try to be a positive influence among the student body. She hopes to give advice and shed some light on tough situations that are presented to teens in high school.
“I’m really excited to do a blog this year,” Avila said. “I really hope people get in to it and really hear what I have to say. My goal is that this blog would be a helping tool for students to come and get advice on how to handle things. I think it will be great year for not just me but all the bloggers.”
Kooking with Kimber and Keebs
by Kaitlyn King and Kim Ward
Senior Kaitlyn King and junior Kim Ward entered into a partnership to show the campus the passion they have for baking. Their blog will publish biweekly switching between posts and a video where they will show people how to bake different desserts.
“Well Kaitie and I realized we both loved to bake so we thought why not share our passion with everybody,” Ward said. “We thought it would be a great idea to share our recipes and spend time with friends when we actually do the baking. People can suggest what they want us to bake in comments. We’ll have videos every other week and guest stars once a month. We’re going to bake numerous desserts so it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
