[media-credit name=”FC file photo” align=”alignright” width=”300″][/media-credit]Since the fall of 2009, the Bill Glass Champions for Today (CFT), a group of retired Christian athletes from the National Football League (NFL) and other professional playing fields, have visited FCS every year and presented their testimonies whilst showcasing their strength and talents.
The presentation is an interactive and amusing experience for all who attend. These feats, including rolling frying pans, bending steel bars and doing push-ups with the added weight of a person, are intended to catch the audience’s attention, give a visual of the Christian faith and deal with common life issues in a unique and relatable way.
After the assembly, a team from Hume Lake Christian Camps will be coming to host a lunch for students. The lunch put on by the camp consists of burgers as well as a variety of different events for the students to participate in. The goal of Hume is to just spend time with the students while sharing fellowship and quality time.
Student Leadership teacher Robert Foshee enjoys the two groups coming because it opens up opportunities for student excitement from outside sources.
“Champions for Today is important because they can relate the students through athletics and share their powerful testimony of how God has affected their lives,” Foshee said. “I like how the Champions for Today speakers don’t sugar-coat their testimonies but are real with the students. I love how excited the Champions for Today speakers get and how they are fired up about how Christ has changed their lives. This rubs off on the students and gets them excited as well.”
Fresno Christian has had days like this in past years, inviting students and teachers to get involved and interact. The events will take place Wednesday, Oct. 2nd. The students will be placed on a half day schedule to allow the second half of the day to be devoted to the special event.

I’m so excited for the sports banquet! only one question, will there be dinner? I heard this time it was just dessert provided by football parents. Clarification would be great!
