EAGLES DEFEAT SUMMIT CHARTER, OCT. 1
Summit Charter traveled to Fresno Christian to take on the Eagles and try to claim a victory in enemy territory. However, FC came out determined after playing to their potential in their previous match.
In set one, the Eagles showed off their intensity, keeping Summit Charter under 10 points. In the end, the score was 25-9.
In the second set, the Eagles started out slow and were down 3-0. However, they made a major turn around with Gabriela Siqueiros, ’15 serving seven times in a row, Olivia Quebe, ’16 serving ten times in a row, andAnnaleah Madison, ’14 serving five times in a row. The Team only allowed Summit Charter to score four more points ending the set 25-7.
Siqueiros served five unanswered points to start off the final set of the game. Head coach Jeff MacNeill was feeling good about the game and put in sophomore Sierra Duffy for almost the whole game to give one of the starters a break. Duffy then proceeded to serve eight unanswered points.
The game was over after Siqueiros delivered a huge hit, making sure to finish off with a bang. The final score was 25-8.
Siqueiros felt prod about the teams performance throughout the game.
“I think we did pretty good,” Siqueiros said. “Usually we slip down to the other teams level if they aren?t that good. But I think we did good maintaining the same amount of energy throughout the game and not making that many mistakes.”
When asked about her eleven kills, Siqueiros said, “I feel like I probably should have gotten more but I?m happy that I got the ones that I did.”
Coach MacNeill felt the same and also very very excited for the upcoming season.
“I was very happy with the way they played tonight,” MacNeill said. “From the first whistle to the final point they gave their very best. It showed in the scored and it showed with the enthusiasm on the court. This was our last preseason game and going into the season, I think this was a good exclamation point, this was a good momentum builder going into the season next week.”
