Student’s explore college options
This year FCS has offered students the chance to investigate college options by touring four college campuses both private and public. The trip is scheduled for Nov. 5-6 and is open to all high school students with a 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) or higher. The total cost of the event is $50, although students will need to bring extra money for food and souvenirs.
During the trip students will visit the campuses of University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), University of California, Irvine, Vanguard University and one other college yet to be determined. When signing up students should choose ether California Baptist University (CBU) or Biola University as the fourth college on the road trip. Besides college touring and planning participants will get to go to dinner and a show.
Academic advisor Michelle Warkentin is very enthusiastic about the college trip, and hopes it will bring the students further knowledge about college life.
“If you’re interested at all in a UC even if its not the one’s we’re visiting, it helps to get a feel for what the campus is like, and also other Christian colleges,” Warkentin said. “We’re also going to do something fun. We’re going to a nice dinner and a show so it’s just going to be a good experience.”
Sophomore Timothy Nyberg says he is looking forward to investigating college options and experience the atmosphere of individual colleges.
“I think it would be fun to explore all of my options and figure out where I want to go,” Nyberg said. “I?m not exactly sure where I want to go yet, but I want to stay in California maybe in La. Im looking forward to learning about different colleges with my friends.”
