EAGLES DEFEND HOME TURF, PICK UP SECOND WIN, Sept. 27
The Eagles hosted the El Sobrante Christian Eagles, Sept. 27. FC was coming off a 49-14 loss to Coast Union, Sept. 20. The Eagles played well on both ends of the field, pulling off a 38-20 home win.
FC quarterback Tyler Breedlove, ’16, felt that the Eagles played well enough to defend their home turf, but improvements should be made.
“The game went well,” Breedlove said. “We played kinda sloppy but we came out with a win. Their quarterback [Markell Whiten] was pretty good, and the way he played showed how we need to work on our containment and how we handle exciting players.”
Whiten, who ran the ESHS spread offense, had a number of big plays, including a 60 yard interception return and a 76 yard touchdown run. Breedlove thinks that in order to match the intensity of their offense, FC should improve their air game.
“We need to work on passing,” said Breedlove. “Especially our deep passes, we need to work on our route running and knowing our assignments.”
The Eagles will next play at Kings Christian, Oct. 4.
