FC has the privilege to help the families of Pinedale Elementary School this holiday season and is asking for your help. Canned food will be collected to distribute through the Pinedale Book Buddies program, Nov. 12 through Dec. 6.
As a school, Fresno Christian makes an extra effort to be involved in the community surrounding it. In October, the school sent out boxes for Operation Christmas Child and currently, students are visiting Pinedale Elementary for Book Buddies. Another opportunity to help the community is around the corner: the annual food drive.
In previous years, the school provided enough canned goods to feed over 200 families. This year, food donated will be distributed to families involved in Book Buddies for holiday meals. The school?s goal is to collect 1300 items.
Delivery this year will help families by providing food for Christmas. Pinedale resource leaders put together a list of items most used in the community. Please make sure to check this list before you shop. There will be a prize awarded to the classes that bring the most items (1 prize for grades K-3, and 1 prize for grades 4-6.
On-campus pastor, Robert Foshee believes this is a good way for FC to be more apart of the community, and impact it in a positive way.
“The food drive is a great way to bless our community and give to others,” Foshee said. “It is easy and inexpensive, I encourage everyone who can donate to give.”
Freshman Amber Wilson thinks that participating in the food drive is a great way to give back to the community.
“I think food drives are awesome because everyone can be involved and know that they are helping out others,” Wilson said. “I love that people of every age can be involved.”
Senior David Taylor encourages people to buy cans and help the drive.
“I think everyone should buy a can and give it to the food drive,” Taylor said. “It is easy and cheap, everybody can do it.”
