In celebration of the Christmas season, Student Leadership will be hosting their annual holiday movie in the Student Ministries Center, Dec. 12.
This year the film that will be presented is the 2003 Christmas hit, Elf, starring Will Ferrell.
Although the holiday season may seem to be a time of receiving and celebrating, the Leadership class hopes to emphasize a more self-less type of Christmas by giving to the Valley Children’s Hospital. The students have been encouraged to bring new stuffed animals for donations.
Each student who brings a stuffed toy for charity that day will receive a free lunch, provided by Panda Express.
According to Junior, Ashley Garcia the leadership class wanted to bless others in their time of need.
“I’m really excited for this small event,” Garcia said. “It’s a great way to give back to younger kids who are unfortunately going through a hard time. These toys will make them so happy.”
Aside from helping children in need, Senior Dustin Swain is excited watch the film, and relax after taking all of his finals.
“I have been looking forward to the movie for awhile,” Swain said. “It’s fun to just unwind with friends after finals. It really gets us all into the Christmas spirit, and Elf is one of my favorite movies.”
