The World Ag Expo welcomes all farmers from the valley and beyond the boarders of home to come showcase their craft, Feb. 11-13. The expo covers 2.6 million square feet of the International Agri-Center grounds in Tulare.
The three day event is deemed to be the largest in the world. Expo visitors are welcomed and likely to see various farming equipment such as, towering tractors as well as the latest in irrigation technology and harvesting equipment.
This year the expo is launching a new building called the World Ag Expo Arena where tractors and other equipment will be showcased for visitors to view. Along looking around, checking out equipment and enjoying the sights, visitors can also enjoy food at the 32 food booths. These are run by local nonprofit groups, schools and community groups.
The expo reaches out to many different crowds of people. The DeGroot family has attended Fresno Christian through many generations. English teacher, Amy Deffenbacher, formerly known as Amy DeGroot, grew up helping her family showcase their family dairy farm.
“The event is a big deal for families like mine,” Deffenbacher said. “It is the latest and greatest in farming technology and is a huge social gathering.”
The convention is an opportunity for local farmers to network and compare stories. Deffenbacher has enjoyed her experiences at the event, and looks forward to sharing the fun she had with her son.
“We network with other farmers, connect with old friends and enjoy receptions hosted by business partners,” Deffenbacher said. “I have so many wonderful memories from this gathering, and once a child in this environment, I get to share it with my son.”
The World Ag Expo has been in Deffenbachers family for generations and is basically a tradition. She is excited to see all generations represented at the event.
“There are three generations on my families farm right now,” Deffenbacher said. “I am certain that this week all three will be represented at the Expo.”
