FC TRUMPS TRANQUILITY, 18-1
FC traveled to play the Tranquility Tigers in their fifth non-league game of the season, March 18.
By the end of the first inning, Fresno Christian led the Tigers by 12 runs, having scored thirteen runs and allowing only one for Tranquility, which would prove to be their only run in the whole game. In their second ups, the visiting team scored three runs, preventing Tranquility from putting any across, and in the third inning, put two more runs on the board.
The fourth and fifth innings remained scoreless for both teams, and as the time reached the two-hour limit before the beginning of the sixth inning, the game was called at the end of the fifth inning with a score of 18-1, Eagles.
Head Coach Jeff Regan was pleased with the majority of the girls’ at bats throughout the game, considering the fact that the Tigers’ pitching was a little rough for this game. However, despite the large margin of victory the Eagles ended the game with, there were some small mistakes in execution of basic softball skills that Regan would like to see become better.
“We were patient at the plate, given a struggling opposing pitcher,” Regan said. “Base running left something to be desired, though.”
Regan has noticed some improvements from the team as a whole since the beginning of the season, but he knows that there are things that the team can still work on as they head into league.
“In the next couple of games we need to improve our focus, learning from mistakes and not making the same mistakes,” Regan said. “We have had positive responses to coaching and players are doing well playing out of position.”
The Eagles will next travel to play the Fowler Redcats at 4 p.m., April 3.
