The school has had a long history of sports, yet this year, the cross country team is in need of some help. The team needs at least two more runners to make up an official five-man team. Without another two players, the FCS team will not be able to compete in the “team” competitions which make it easier to advance to the CIF State Section Cross Country Championship.
Head coach of the cross country team, and former FCS athlete Doug Daniel, needs a few more players to complete a team.
“Cross country is the greatest sport in the world,” Daniel said. “To compete as a team we need five people, now we only have three; we need two more students to be eligible to win a championship. If we only run with three athletes, we will be ineligible. In doing cross country, you can get in great shape and also it prepares you for life. This sport is all about discipline and hard work, preparing you for the life of having a job.”
I joined to get in great shape. Similar to my brother, I like to run, but I mostly wanted get in better shape. This will discipline me and prepare me for college and my job.–Isaac Hoffman, multi-schooled athlete
Senior and multi-schooled student Soren Hoffman joined cross country for the love of running and for how it looks on a college application.
“I joined cross country because I enjoy running,” Soren said. “Also in doing this sport, it looks great on my college applications.”
Younger brother, Isaac Hoffman, joined for similar reasons, to get in better shape and also set him self up for the sports to come.
“I joined to get in great shape,” Isaac Hoffman said. “Similar to my brother, I like to run, but I mostly wanted get in better shape. This will discipline me and prepare me for college and my job.”
To all campus students, if you want to get in shape or ingrain discipline into your daily life, join the cross country team.
