Eagles lose by two, Feb. 6
Playing against one of the hardest in the league, the FC soccer team gave a good fight against the Parlier Panthers on the North field of FC. With the weather looking perfect for the players, the game began.
At the beginning of the game each team had opportunities to score but they both came short every time. At about 25 minutes in, FC came through and Taylor Howard took the shot scoring 1-0. The Eagles feeling reenergized with the goal, continued to play equally hard as the Parlier Panthers, holding the score until half.
While had a great first half they came out slow and were not prepared to keep trying as hard as they did in the first half. The Parlier Panthers came out trying way better than they did in the first half and the Eagles could not hold them off. They scored a goal, then two, then three, and then the Eagles still trying lost hope to be able to win but still had good attitude about it. The ending score was 5 goals for Parlier and 1 goal for FC.
Freshmen Tyler Villines thought that we played well but he and the rest of the team struggled
“I am new to the team and I definitely need a lot more work,” Villines said. “The guys I get to play with are great, and the coaches, and the game. I just need to keep working hard and improving. If we are able to keep possession of the ball more and finish it back in the net then we could win more.”
Senior Jordan Castro had high hopes of that game and thought that we could beat them if our defense was able to stop them.
“Our team just needed to keep their head in the game to be successful,” Castro said. “The team has improved since then against teams such as Riverdale and Caruthers hopefully we will continue to improve and hopefully win against the tougher teams.”
The team will next play the Riverdale Cowboys, Feb. 10.
