The Eagles take home another win, 22-9

For the Eagles second double-header of the season, Fresno Christian hosted the visiting Knights of Stone Ridge Christian, Sat., March 7. The Eagles were looking to keep their momentum coming off a big game against Laton earlier in the week.

In the first game, Junior Tyler Sellers took the ball and started off with a nine pitch, nine strikes inning and held the Knights scoreless. In the bottom of the inning, the Eagles bats made a statement early, driving in four runs. However, in the top of the second, Stone Ridge came back with six runs of their own to take the lead.

From then on neither team would let the other get hot. With both teams scoring a few runs here and there, by the sixth inning the Eagles led 11-9. However, after holding the Knights scoreless in the top of the inning, the Eagles were able to get their offense scoring again and were able to put the game away. The final score read 22-9.

Overall the games went very well. The underclassman played really well in the first game and gained some valuable experience. The starters in the second game came through as well and hit the ball effectively. We still have to work defensively on simply ground balls and throwing errors, but the game was helpful for the team to get some confidence before some tougher games coming up. –Senior Dillon Owens

In the second game Senior Dillon Owens took the ball for the Eagles and kept the Knights in check. Offensively, the Eagles could not be stopped. Scoring five runs in the first and 11 in the second, they quickly put the game away. The Knights showed some life in the fifth, but by then it was too late. Owens pitch a complete game and got the win, as the Eagles easily came away with a 19-4 victory.

Owens was happy with the way the team played as a whole, but says they still have to work on the little things.

“Overall the games went very well.” Owens said. “The underclassman played really well in the first game and gained some valuable experience. The starters in the second game came through as well and hit the ball effectively. We still have to work defensively on simply ground balls and throwing errors, but the game was helpful for the team to get some confidence before some tougher games coming up.”

The Eagles next game will be on March 13, as the team travels to Lemoore to face Kings Christian.
