While the boys’ basketball team has had its ups and downs during the 2005/06 season, the team has needed contributions from all five of their starters in order to be competitive in the West Sierra League this year. One member who is as consistent as any of them is junior guard Joey Logan.
Here Logan scores two of his 26 points against Caruthers on Feb. 10 as the Eagles rebounded from a nine-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat the Blue Raiders, 80-71. Logan’s game-high performance was just two points more than Wes Wells who added 24 as the Eagles took a measure of revenge on the Blue Raiders. Caruthers earlier defeated FC, 62-48, on Jan. 18.
Currently FC is 8-4 in the WSL with two games remaining before the Central Section Division 5 playoffs. The team has reformated itself after a slow WSL season and has now won six of its last seven games. All five of the Eagles starters have played significant roles in each of their last five wins over league opponents.
The team will next travel to Firebaugh on Feb. 15 and host Mendota on Feb. 17 to close out the WSL regular season.
