Getting students of varying ages together to perform a group cheer was coach Katie Mendenhall’s objective during cheer clinic, Sept. 22-26. With over 60 elementary students learning stunts and cheers, the junior high, JV and varsity cheer squads had their hands full.
“We were learning fun cheers,” Lisa Lumeya, ’12, left, said, “and I was assigned to the kindergartners. They really look up to the cheerleaders because we’re older and do cool stunts.
“It was cool to be the role model because it encourages you to cheer even better and have better morals; and it’s just because you know they look up to you. Cheer clinic was also fun because it’s amazing to see what little girls can learn in just three days.”
