Fifteen drama students accompanied director Tom McEntee and his mother Eunie McEntee, right center back, to California State University, Fresno (CSUF), for a drama open house. Various high schools in Fresno attended the event.
Three CSUF theater students took the group on a tour around the Fresno State drama classrooms, costume workshops and theaters, highlighting the drama courses and events, Dec. 4.
Free time provided an opportunity to exercise improvisation skills. Junior Doug Daniel corners freshman Danielle Lauber (ground) while co-director McEntee and freshman Dolly Mizner contemplate how to fit in the scene.
The drama students received a lecture about life on the Fresno State campus, the available majors for students and costs of the aspects for college life.
After enjoying lunch at Dog House Grill, the group played a sucessful game of drama freeze tag. The game is an improvised scene in which actors must freeze at a moment’s notice.
Once the scene is frozen, another actor jumps into the game to change the entire point, and the prior actors must adapt to the new plot.
The story lines varied from evil munchkin twins to Jedi duels. The hysterical laughter from onlookers attracted odd looks from passing college students, and more participants from other high schools.
The day concluded with an exclusive viewing of the CSUF theater department’s final dress rehersal for their show, Measure for Measure.
