The clear sunny sky sets the mood for the day as band members eagerly wait for the long anticipated band trip to begin. As the bus pulls into the parking lot, band members rejoice and rush to get a seat on the bus.
The campus concert and jazz bands will be going to San Diego to perform at different schools in the area from April 27- May 1.
?I decided to go to San Diego for this year?s band trip because it?s where the band hasn?t been before,? Paul McEntee, band director, said. ?We will be performing at Calvary Chapel Murrieta, Upland Christian, Desert Christian and at the Remington Club.?
In the past, the band has gone to Hawaii, Canada, the Pacific Northwest and Washington D.C.
?These trips provide an opportunity for the band to travel and to play for different venues,? McEntee said. ?It also gives a good bonding experience to the students.?
Besides playing music at different schools, the band plans to relax at Knott?s Berry Farm, the San Diego Zoo and at a San Diego Padre?s game.
?I am really looking forward to this trip because we?re going to have lots of fun at really cool places,? Wolfgang Dunn, ?08, said. ?I especially can?t wait to go to the San Diego Zoo.?
Dunn has played the French horn for 2 years. This is his first year on campus.
?After this trip, my final goal for band this year is to play my instrument more,? Dunn said. ?I want to be more confident when playing my French horn.?
Once they return from San Diego, the band will be performing their annual Spring Concert, which is their last concert of the school year, at Riverpark Bible Church on May 17 at 7 P.M.
