A common lab experiment in biology usually includes dissecting a reptile. While some students fear this moment, junior Brett Lewis, not pictured, embraces it.
While walking on a trail on a foothill ranch, Lewis came across a threatening rattlesnake. Fearing for his life, he shot the snake in the head and created the perfect opportunity for an anatomy lesson.
Finding his fellow dissecting-buff, Lewis relished in his defeat of the snake with biology teacher Bill McGowen. During lunch, McGowen helped Lewis dissect the snake, examining its internal organs, comparing it to human design.
