To many students, transferring to a new school where teachers and students alike are strangers epitomizes many fears.
FC Live helps prevent this uncertainty with a night prepared just for parents and students with questions about classes and extracurricular activities as well as an opportunity to meet teachers and staff on March 1.
“We open the campus up for parents and students that might be interested to come,” Jon Endicott, vice principal, said. “During that night we present what kind of academics and programs we have and answer any questions.”
Prospective students and parents willing to invest one evening are offered the opportunity to meet teachers and visit the campus which may help overcome the fear of moving to a new school or just to check out the program.
“FC Live is a chance where parents can meet teachers and coaches and put a face on the school,” Scott Falk, campus pastor, said. “It’s a time where everyone important in the school gets under one roof to answer questions asked by students and parents.”
Not only are parents informed about academic courses but extra curricular activities and sports programs are also presented.
“I liked FC Live a lot and it helped me understand what the school was about,” Linda Graham, mother of AnnaLynne, ’07, said. “Other programs besides academics were also presented. FC Live was one of the deciding factor for AnnaLynne coming to FC.”
Parents are not the only ones that benefit from attending this evening. Some prospective students glean helpful information before the first day of school.
“I went to FC Live two years ago when I was first coming to FC as a freshmen,” Christy Belden, ’06, said. “I liked how all the teachers took time to go up to everyone that was there and meet them. It was easier to come to this school when I knew what I was going to expect.”
This year FC Live will be held on March 1 from 7 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. in the Jackie Johnson Hospitality Room, Building 6.
