As cars whiz by, students wave their newspapers in the air, eagerly trying to snag the attention of passers-by in order to sell special Kids Day papers. The campus leadership class will be selling newspapers to benefit Valley Children’s Hospital on March 16.
The first annual Kids Day was held in March of 1988 and since then the Kids Day program has raised approximately $1.2 million dollars. The papers are sold for $1 in 21 towns and communities in Central California.
These special papers include a copy of The Fresno Bee and a special section, which features stories about Valley Children’s patients from all over the Valley.
“Kids Day is a wonderful opportunity for the students to be involved in serving and helping the community,” Eunie McEntee, leadership advisor, said. “It’s also a lot of fun for us [advisors] to drop off juice and doughnuts to our early risers.”
Kids Day newspapers will be available for $1 beginning at 6 A.M. on March 16 morning.
